What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, mailing address or other details to help you with your experience.

Other than the license information (email and company name), when using our application we collect general usage statistics and error information for monitoring how our application is being used to best serve our customers. 

The information we collect may include, but not limited to, error messages, the type of mail server being used, the IP address, the mail domain, the number of times the application was started or stopped, the screens navigated to within the application. 

This information is published to certain cloud services such as Google Analytics (https://analytics.google.com) for statistics, Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud or Airbrake (https://airbrake.io) or Bugsnag (https://bugsnag.com) for error information and may include certain personally identifiable information for the purpose of improving the product or website (see below, section titled 'How do we use your information?') or for licensing use. With the above exception, all personal information is only stored locally or within your Windows domain and we take security and privacy very seriously. 

When do we collect information?

On our website, we collect information from you when you place an order, respond to a survey, fill out a form or enter information on our site.

In our applications, we collect information securely when you use the application including events such as start up, shutdown, any specific actions you may have taken, any errors you may have encountered. Note that in some cases this may include PII for the purpose of improving the customer experience. See below section "How do we use your information?" for more on how this information is used.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:

      • To improve our website in order to better serve you.
      • To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service requests.
      • To quickly process your transactions.
      • To manage software licensing and installs.

We may use the information we collect when using our application in the following ways:

      • to better understand how our application is being used (which screens are being used and what users have trouble with)
      • to provide improvements on general usage and customer experience

How long do we keep your data (data retention)?

Any data collected when using our applications (see "When do we collect information?" and How do we use your information?") is retained for a period of time that is consistent with our business purposes. PII information, if collected, typically is stored for a period of 30 days. You may request deletion of PII data by contacting support@gearmage.com and specifying the PII data that needs to be deleted.


How do we protect visitor information?

Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as possible. 

We use regular Malware Scanning.

For payments we use a third-party vendor, Verifone (previously 2Checkout), to process all purchases securely. All other information provided on the website is used only for license management, product information, support and contact.  

For our application analytics, we use trusted Google Analytics and Airbrake.IO or Bugsnag.com for error tracking. This information is not shared with any other third-party and will never be used for marketing purposes.  

On our website, do we use 'cookies'?

Yes only on our website. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. For instance, we use cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

If you disable cookies off, some features (like Chat and support) will be disabled. It will turn off some of the features that make your site experience more efficient and some of our services will not function properly. However, you can still place orders.

Mail Attachment Downloader application's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy#additional_requirements_for_specific_api_scopes), including the Limited Use requirements. For data retention and deletion, refer to the section "How long do we keep your data (data retention)?".


Google Advertising

We use Google AdSense Advertising on our website.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to our users based on previous visits to our site and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt-out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google Ad and Content Network privacy policy.

We have implemented the following:

We along with third-party vendors, such as Google use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) or other third-party identifiers together to compile data regarding user interactions with ad impressions and other ad service functions as they relate to our website.

Users can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Settings page. Alternatively, you can opt out by visiting the Network Advertising initiative opt out page or permanently using the Google Analytics Opt Out Browser add on.

How does our site handle do not track signals?
